What is
BearHeart Rising?
In partnership with local schools, community organizations, group homes, and youth facilities, BearHeart Rising offers drumming programs that promote resilience, teamwork, and self-expression.
Focusing on contemporary drumming skills, our programs do not provide traditional or ceremonial teachings, but rather use music as a tool for empowerment, healing, and prevention.
BearHeart Rising operates on the belief that every beat of the drum can help build stronger communities and brighter futures.
Blending music, mentorship, and cultural pride
Founded by local musician and proud Cree man, Nathaniel Henry, BearHeart Rising empowers Indigenous youth through contemporary drumming and community connection.
Nathan is a professional drummer and educator of mixed-Cree heritage who has performed across Canada with various contemporary bands.
His passion is sharing the joy and discipline of music with youth in a way that promotes confidence, connection, and healing.
